With a passion for architecture and 10 years’ experience in the building and design industries, Matt thrives on creating dream homes for his clients.

Matt knows the importance of clever design and will work with you to understand your needs and wants, to design a home or alteration that’s specifically tailored for your family and how you live your life on a day-to-day basis.

​

And when it comes to new builds, he’s dedicated to producing practical, energy-efficient, healthy homes that take full advantage of the unique features of your building site.

Matt began his career with a Pre-trade Carpentry Certificate from Wintec, followed by two years spent on building sites as an apprentice builder.

​

While learning the building trade, Matt discovered that his passion lay in design, and went on to complete a National Diploma in Architectural Technology at Wintec. Matt then spent the following five years at Architectural Design Ltd as an architectural draughtsman. His last role was as an architectural designer and 2IC at Collaborative Architecture Ltd. In 2019 Matt became a Licenced Building Practitioner and launched Design by MAT Ltd as a solo venture.

Matt lives in Te Awamutu with his partner Heather and young children Noah and Chloe.
